This weekend I teamed up with a buddy of mine and we went a shootin' in Helsinki City. The first location was Belge bar in Kaisaniemi. Extra large thanks go over to Pauliina at Belge for kindly allowing permission to shoot in such a wonderful and stunning bar.It was a difficult environment for Matti and I, the ambient light was similar to what would be available in a coal mine, a great and atmospherical touch for one enjoying a beverage or two but not ideal for the dynamic photo duo.
Another enormous thanks goes out to artist and model Molla Mills and model Anjuska Kylloenen.
Lighting wise, in Belge I threw an SB-800 with Lastolite 60cm hot shoe soft box, a SB-28 with silver reflector umbrella and another SB-28 with a stofen onto the scene. All speedlight's were nicely smothered with 3/4 cut CTO correction gels to balance with what little available light there was.We had a very short space of time before Belge opened up for the day and by then we need to be packed up and out (hence the absence of a set up shot and power outputs on the strobes, sorry folks). So we charged onwards to the studio, courtesy of Henrik Kettunen, a very good mate of mine who regularly saves my days. Thanks for the use of The Black Room Henrik!
In the studio we made good use of Elinchrom FX 400 flash heads, 65cm soft boxes, honey comb grids and a speedlight for background separation. Anything you need, it's in there! Including the beautiful antique radio!
